Knowles Family Visit 2012

Chloe Van Sickle,Alea,Kalei,Kai,Lilla,and Kylor. At the end of May we finally got to see our dear friends again, the Knowles, Kim, Keith, Lilla, Kylor and Ruby dog! We look forward to this each year doing something together to visit and reconnect. This year the Knowles offered to come our way and stay with us, which was so fun. We got to talk and visit while the kids did really well playing together. Thanks for coming to be with us this year Knowles family... we loved having you and can't wait for more adventures together again soon.

Fun on the Carousel!

While the Knowles family was with us we did a lot of fun things together... walks, Riverfront Park and even Bear Lake. Here are just some of our adventures shown here.

Our kids fall in love with Ruby dog all over again. She was such a sweet, mellow girl and she and Chloe got along real well too.

As we took a walk to our old stomping grounds of Whitworth, the kids loved riding bikes and scooters as we enjoyed showing Kim and Keith the new buildings around campus.

Laughter Lines

Just recently the girls learned about the fruits of the spirit at Wednesday night church. They were both so excited about this. So we were talking about this after dinner one night at the dinner table and Alea was looking up at her big paper where she had stuck the different fruits (real fruits like bananas, etc.) with the fruits of the spirit listed on them, like joy, patience, etc. Kalei says to Alea, "What are the fruits of the spirit Alea? Do you know?" And with a totally serious face Alea looks at her and says, "Well, they are apple, banana, pear, watermelon..." And we all broke out in laughter. Who knew that that's what the fruit of the spirit really are.
I just painted Alea's toenails for a little girl's tea party we went to and she was so excited about having a nail salon with mommy. Now every morning when she wakes up she yells, "Mommy look!!!! They're still painted!" She can't quite get over the fact that the paint would still be on her nails each morning. She told me she was thinking that we'd have to repaint them every day. What goes through little people's minds is so joyful to me!
Kalei's latest little phrase that I think she's learned from being with peers in kindergarten is "No Mommy, I'm really not joking!" She says this after about most anything. It's usually after I've smiled or giggled because she's just said something real cute. I wonder if she thinks that I don't believe what she's saying. So today after she said this yet one more time I said, "Kalei, what's with this 'I'm not joking business?' " Kalei responds with, "It's not a business Mom, it's a silliness!" We went on to talk about what my business is or job is and what her job is of going to school.
I was admiring the beautiful eyes of my girls and reminding Kalei that she had chocolate drop eyes (a term Matt's mom has always used!). We decided we needed a name for Alea's green eyes. I wanted to compare them to the green oceans we saw on our cruise in the Caribean. The girls couldn't understand a green ocean so they had other ideas. Kalei decided that beans were green and Alea loves green beans so she thought we should call Alea's eyes, "green bean eyes!" Alea finally came up with "eyes as green as a Christmas tree."

"And I love you Jesus, even more than I love Mimi (her grandma)!" -Kalei, praying her nightly prayers
"I'm just all full of the sillies!" -Alea, comment while driving along in the car
"Look Mommy, it's the PMS guy!" -Alea, after spotting the UPS van
